Gurwin’s Assisted Living Community offers an independent lifestyle complete with private apartments and an added layer of support to ensure our residents maintain their independence as long as possible.

Our team of caring professionals foster personalized relationships with each resident and create an environment where our community members can be social, engaged and supported, adding quality of life to their years. At Gurwin’s Assisted Living Community, residents are part of a social network, where they can make friends and enjoy fine dining, trips and other activities they’ve always loved.

While Assisted Living is designed to maximize each resident’s independence and wellness, being part of the Gurwin Healthcare System’s Life Plan Community provides an added layer of security for our residents; should they ever need it, additional levels of care are available, right here on our Gurwin campus. Our Assisted Living residents have priority admission to all Gurwin programs and services, including our skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, memory care, home care, day care and on-site dialysis. The System also includes Fountaingate Gardens, an Independent Living Life Plan Community and many other specialty services to serve the needs of older adults on Long Island.

Becoming A Resident

Lindner Residences shines as the pinnacle of Long Island assisted living communities, with apartment options including brand new studios and one or two bedrooms, and plenty of communal space that may be used for entertaining, community activities or just spending time alone with a book. And while Jewish culture is important for many of our Assisted Living residents, we welcome residents of all faiths and cultures.

What Do I Need?

The best way to gauge what you need in order to begin the process of moving to assisted living is to speak with our Community Relations team, who can answer all your questions and help determine what you will need as you move through the process.

Amenities

At Lindner Residences, our residents don’t need to worry, because we’ve thought of everything!

Every apartment is equipped with a tea kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, satellite television service, internet and WIFI access.
Housekeeping and linen service are provided weekly. Washers and dryers are available for resident use on every wing.
24-hour security.
Emergency call system both wearable and in every apartment and common area.
Transportation – Our Gurwin fleet of luxury vans transports residents to group shopping trips and fun excursions. Our town car is also available for medical appointments and other scheduled off campus-activities.
Salon Services –Licensed and trained stylists offer a full range of services right in our own onsite beauty salon/barber shop, including manicures, hair cut/color/styling and more, pampering our residents and keeping them looking their best!

Jewish Life at Gurwin’s Lindner Residences

Jewish life and culture is important to many of our residents at Gurwin’s Assisted Living Community, but our warm and inviting community welcomes residents of all faiths and cultures. Our fine dining program is kosher, and provides a dining experience that is pleasing to all. In addition, on-site Shabbat and holiday services are offered, with transportation provided to various other religious services in the area for those interested in attending.

Memory Care – Gurwin Assisted Living’s Enriched Pathways Program

We offer our Enriched Pathways Memory Care for those needing a higher level of dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Enriched Pathways is a unique memory care wing in our assisted living community that is beautifully furnished to provide the ultimate in comfort with all the amenities of home. In our secure, nurturing setting, your loved one will receive superior quality Alzheimer’s care as he or she is encouraged to achieve and maintain as much independence as possible.

Our experienced staff gets to know each and every resident, their past likes and dislikes and current level of functioning, in order to find the right balance between assistance and autonomy, inclusion and independence.

Short-term/Trial Stays

Not sure if Gurwin Assisted Living is right for you or your loved one? Is a little extra help needed before you or your loved one returns home after a hospital stay, rehabilitation center stay or surgery? Or, are you a caregiver in need of respite care so you can tend to personal business or go one a much-needed vacation? Take advantage of our short-term/trial stay programs!

Up to one-month trial stays at Lindner Residences may be accommodated based on availability and are a great way to “try before you buy!” Residents in the trial stay program stay up to 30-days in a fully furnished apartment, are acclimated to the community and then free to participate in all activities and utilize all services, to get a feel for what life is like in the community.

Caregiver respite stays are also accommodated based on availability and are subject a medical review prior to the stay.

Recovering after a stay at our nursing and rehabilitation center? Our Homeward Bound program is an ideal way to help transition back to home. Participants in our Homeward Bound program, like those completing a trial stay, are able to take advantage of all Lindner Residences has to offer, with added support to help get them strong and confident before returning home to their permanent residence. We find our Homeward Bound participants often enjoy the experience so much, they decide to become residents themselves! For a fixed daily rate, our Homeward Bound residents receive:

Fully furnished apartment with emergency call system
Individualized care plan
Wellness Care including physician consultation, nursing coverage and medication management
Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies available on-site
Chef-prepared meals overseen by Registered Dietitian (Click here to see our daily menu)
On-site dialysis if needed
Limited transportation to medical visits

A variety of social activities and amenities

Activities

At Gurwin’s Assisted Living Community, our residents enjoy exciting new activities every month, set to engage, entertain and educate. Join in an art class, go to a lecture, participate in a group exercise class or watch a movie with friends in our theatre – there are many choices each day to engage the mind and spirit. In addition, our residents also enjoy admission to programs and activities at the Suffolk Y JCC, conveniently located adjacent to our campus.

Wellness

Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences is located on the 36-acre Gurwin Campus, surrounded by manicured gardens and beautifully landscaped walking paths. This country-like location allows us to offer unique outdoor facilities including a shuffleboard deck, putting green and LifeTrail exercise stations as part of an outdoor walking trail.

Programs for Health

Daily and varied recreation and social programs, fully-equipped fitness center staffed by a certified personal trainer, Tai Chi and Yoga classes and an outdoor walking trail with LifeTrail fitness stations.

Wellness Center

Our Wellness Center is staffed with medical personnel who are here for you. Services provided include regular immunizations, daily clinic hours, scheduling of physician appointments and more.

Home Care

Home Health Aide services are permitted either through Gurwin’s Home Care Agency or outside the agency of your choice. All aides must be cleared by Wellness.

Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

Additional services are available on the Gurwin campus including dialysis, hospice care, short-term rehabilitation, respiratory/ventilation care, and adult day care.

Privacy

Private examination room for you and your personal physician, by request.

Medication Monitoring

One-on-one assistance with medication administration (additional daily fees may apply).
