Effective Communication Strategies for Dementia Care

September 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Effective Communication for Dementia Caregivers 9/22/26

Connecting Through Dementia: A Caregiver’s Guide to Communication

Dementia gradually changes the way a person communicates, making it harder to express their wants, needs and feelings to the people who love them most. This shift can leave caregivers feeling frustrated, disconnected or unsure how to help.

If you’re caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, this educational program will teach you how to use a person-centered approach to connect and communicate more effectively — at any stage of the disease. You’ll leave with practical, compassionate strategies to reduce frustration, preserve dignity and stay connected to the person behind the diagnosis.

Sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association and Gurwin Healthcare System, attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the Gurwin community, including our special social model Adult Day Care Program that provides supervised, engaging daytime programs for people with Alzheimer’s or related dementia diagnoses.
